BioDak, LLC was founded in 2006 with the purpose of providing superior bovine sera and reagents to the research, pharmaceutical, and medical industries. The company is headquartered in Kimball, South Dakota and is currently using the latest advances in technology to produce cattle that are prion and antibody free. In 2008 BioDak obtained an exclusive patent license agreement (PLA) with Kyowa Hakko Kirin Company, LTD (currently Kyowa Hakko Kirin Company, LTD a subsidiary of Kirin Holding, a Nikkei publicly traded stock) with the right to sublicense for the worldwide production and marketing of its technology (bovines with prion and/or antibody gene functional knockouts). To date, the company has completed reproduction activities which will result in the first prion free homozygous calves and antibody/prion free hemizygous calves due in the summer of 2009. |
